Back to Church Sunday

The diocese of Manchester is trying to encourage people to go back to church on 26th september. It doesn't say so on the website (that I could find) but I heard they're offering goodie bags and chocolate bars to returnees!

What do you think? is it a good idea?

Yeah, Mum raid in the paper that they're offering goodie bags, chocolate and stuff to get former church-goers back into the pews.
I think it's really important to find out why people have left the church and to try and rectify any issues they have, but I don't think bribing people is the best way bringing the gospel of Christ back to them!

I had a quick look at the online survey they've got (doesn't apply to me as I haven't left the church yet), but it's quite interesting... I certainly think I'd come back to church "If I could bring my dog!".

I also tried finding a church on the map but found it difficult to locate myself... What's worse was that when I got to Stretford all it said was "404 Stretford was not found on this server".

what do you mean 'yet'? Are you planning on leaving us? Has being senior steward put you off? (that would be understandable!)

Ok, I thought deleting a comment would actually delete it.

Now you're all wondering what it was I was going to say. To satisfy your curiousity I'll tell you - I just posted the same thing twice by mistake.

At my service at Styal this morning, there were free chocolate bars being given away (not my idea, but supplied by the sunday school teacher). I didn't see anyone who looked like they were coming back to church though.
